My very first houseplant & seed swap event of 2023 took place Sat 25th Feb, 12pm-2pm at Jackson’s Boat in Sale, Manchester. I have been running my own event for almost 1.5 years and it has grown steadily. It was one of the highest turnouts in it’s history, in the middle of February! Thank you to all of you who came along. This year, I’ll be documenting it for you to see the work behind the scenes and give you inspiration for your own events.
The next event to add to your diary will be March 25th, 12pm-2pm at Jackson’s Boat in Sale. To see more info on my Cloud Gardener Houseplant & Seed Swap events click here
Workshop 3
Planting & Container Selection
Workshop 2 Summary
First let me start with an apology, the roof terrace project has been in full swing and I have spent all of this week sourcing plants for the roof terrace. By the end of session 2, you should have come slightly closer to having an idea of what you want to do with your space. As you know, I am using my new roof terrace project as a case study. I took you through my workflow step by step showing you how I approached each point for the design.
I was back on site this week to meet the clients and I can happily say that the client loved the design and I got the go ahead to start the build. I now have to finalize the planting list, source the plants, containers and furnishings as I will be live on site and installing the garden from 6th March.
This week, I am going to take you through my plant selection process for the build and discuss my container selection. The roof terrace is a North facing shady garden. One of the most difficult types of container gardens to design. However..

Work Shop 3: Planting

We often fall into the trap of aimlessly wandering around garden centres and nurseries picking up whatever we like. However, before selecting plants for our space we need to think of a number of things so grab a cup of tea/coffee and let’s get into this…
