Hello from the Cloud Garden everyone! Long time!
Isn’t it nice to see some sun? Travelling has been amazing but I didn’t realize how intense the travel blues would be on my return. Since getting back, I have concentrated on championing the importance of urban greening through multiple different ways. Expect a full debrief from me next week with regards to my research trip and some of the work that I have been doing since getting back.
The very first houseplant & seed swap event of the year will be Saturday 8th March, 12pm-2pm at the Bridge Inn, Sale Manchester. I’ve been running this event for 3 years now and it just seems to have grown from strength to strength. You can pick up or offload seeds, seedlings, cuttings, houseplants or gardening equipment. The best part? It’s completely free and even if you haven’t got anything to swap, just come along and meet some new green fingered friends.
Any plants left over will be donated to local community gardening groups.
What To Sow/Buy In March?
As a new gardener, a visit to the nursery can be very overwhelming. So I decided to break things down and share what I’m sowing in March but also what to pick up from the plant nursery.
March is a great time to sow seeds and buy seedlings for your garden. In this video I share some tips on cost-effective options, such as choosing seeds over seedlings, and highlighting various plants like tomatoes, peppers, and herbs. I also discuss experimenting with different varieties and planning for space, especially for balcony & small space gardeners.
Balcony Garden Tour
In this video, I share with you what I started in February. Plus, the balcony garden tour highlights successes and failures of my garden with me being away for 5 months. I also share my experiences with various plants, including salvia, tomatoes, and potatoes, while emphasizing the importance of patience and proper seed sowing techniques. We also cover some tips for managing limited space and frost risks.
You know me, I’m happy to share my garden at it’s heights and lows. No insta beauty here.. All in all, I am actually really happy with its progress but also so excited for Spring to come along.
If you struggled with something in your garden last year, let me know below and I’ll be sure to make a video to help you out. One of the contenders at the moment is how to build a seasonal container, so I’m thinking of having a “Container Week” on my socials where we go over container selection, refreshing and seasonal containers. If that’s of interest make sure you are subscribed to my Youtube!
Have a great weekend & hopefully, I’ll see some of you at the Houseplant & Seed Swap Event.
